What Do Referrals and Warm Connections Have To Do With Blogging?

by | Sep 14, 2023 | Attorney Marketing, Internet Marketing, Web Design

I spoke recently with one of my clients who’s been in private practice for fourteen months. Prior to opening his law firm, he asked me to help with his website and online marketing. We began by defining his ideal client, creating a marketing plan and establishing a marketing calendar. Two months after opening his law firm, he began blogging as a part of his marketing plan. And within three months of doing so, he started seeing results.

Fast Forward: Today my client’s law firm is doing very well — just moved into a new office. Our marketing efforts has led to an increasing number of visitors to his website. But they’re not just visitors. These visitors are becoming clients. What’s even more interesting and unexpected is that he’s also getting offline referrals and making warm connections as a result of his blogging efforts.

Situation #1: My client received a call from a gentleman in Florida. He says, “My attorney suggested I give you a call.” My client didn’t know his attorney personally, so wondered how this could have happened? It turned out, the Floridian attorney did an online search and found my client’s blog article.

The outcome? A referral.

Situation #2: My client walked into a bond hearing recently, and a woman there asked “Are you Mr. So and So?” My client replied, “Yes.” She said, “I was just on your website reading one of your blog articles and saw your picture. This is amazing! You have a lot of good information on your website.”

The outcome? A warm connection that’s turned into a client.

You never know who’s reading your blog post. And you never know who you’re going to bump into that’s just read your blog post.
